My Story
My journey began
25 years ago when, after a lengthy corporate career, I found myself at a
crossroads. Realizing that my tenure in the corporate world was nearing its
end, I began exploring franchise opportunities that would offer stability and
growth without the pitfalls I had encountered in the transportation sector,
such as accounts receivables and weather changes.
My introduction
to Martinizing Cleaners came at a seminar where a franchisee's presentation
resonated deeply with me. The alignment between Martinizing's values and my
vision was undeniable. I soon reached out to my sons, Ryan and Eric, and we
decided to embark on this venture together, a true father-and-son bonding
experience. Our first store in Gahanna, Ohio, saw remarkable growth within just
six weeks, setting the stage for our future success.

Our growth strategy has included opening multiple plants and implementing delivery routes, something that was completely new to our business. Approximately 35% of our business now comes from these routes, which allow us to serve areas without the overhead costs of additional storefronts. This innovation began out of necessity when a road closure in front of our main plant severely impacted customer access. We quickly adapted by offering pickup and delivery services, which proved to be a successful and enduring strategy.
The flexibility of our route system enables us to test new markets with little-to-no financial risk. If a particular area does not generate enough business, we can simply look elsewhere. This approach has been effective for nearly 15 years, allowing us to expand our reach and increase our customer base.

Dry cleaning remains essential for many of our customers, particularly those in dual-income households who lack the time for laundry and ironing. Our quick turnaround and next-day service are big selling points, and this model is built directly into the Martinizing brand.
